This note is maintained by Lord Owl Ltd to explain exactly what the free tier shows you and what we do with the data behind it. Some placements are paid: we earn a commission from advertising networks and from affiliate partners when you buy through a sponsored link, at no extra cost to you.
What ads you see
Free users see a single sponsored placement per page. Today those are house creatives for OwlGate Pro, OwlGate Team and our own free TV guides. If we ever run a third-party ad network unit, it is labelled "Sponsored" in the same slot. Pro and Team never see ads.
What we measure
We count that an ad was shown or clicked, which slot it ran in and which creative it was. That is tied to a random session id kept in your browser, plus your account id if you are signed in. No ad profile is built about you and we do not sell that data.
What ads never touch
Ads are rendered by the app around your tunnel, never inside it. Your VPN traffic, browsing history, DNS lookups and chosen perch are not shared with advertisers, and ads are not injected into the pages you visit while connected.
